The art of fishing in Colombia.
The export of ornamental fish in Colombia dates since approximately 1966, use is made of artisanal methods where is not affected ecosystems and water sources, thus preserving the different species. Our fishermen are mostly Indians who work with minimally invasive tools. In our country, unfortunately, social problems in jungle areas limit the possibility of sources of legal work. The ornamental fishing in these regions is one of the most important sources of income, which contributes to the communities belonging to these areas to stay away from the production of illicit crops or are linking to groups outside the law. As a result, the ornamental fish has a very positive social impact on more than 5,000 families who earn their livelihood from this activity.
