The art of fishing in Colombia.

The export of ornamental fish in Colombia dates from around 1966, and is executed using traditional methods where neither the fish, water sources or the ecosystems are affected. Our fishermen are mostly indigenous and local collectors on the rainforest , they operate with basic tools and minimally invasive techniques.

In our country, unfortunately social problems in rainforest areas restricts the possibility of sources of legal work. Ornamental fishing in these regions is one of the most imporant sources of income, pushing the communities away from illegal activities like outlaw crops or joining groups outside the law, placing ornamental fishing as an activity with a positive social impact on more than 5000 families who earn their living from this activity.
